From history of university

Gulistan the State University (former Syr-Darya State pedagogical institute of a name of G.Guljama) has been organized on the basis of 120-orders of the ministry of the maximum and average special formation of Republic Uzbekistan in the city of Syr-Darya on April, 12, 1966. In 1986 the institute has moved to the new building constructed in the center of Syr-Darya area in the city of Gulistan. In 1992 under the decree of the President of Republic Uzbekistan on the basis of institute has been organized Gulistan the State university.

In far 1966 on the basis of one faculty function and prepared for experts for area branch of the Uzbek language and the literature, Russian and the literature, the Kazakh language and the literature and foreign languages (English language). For the organization of process of work five faculties where twenty six teachers worked have been created. From them six had scientific degrees. Today at university the seven faculties, twenty three faculties where teaching and scientific activity borrows six doctors of sciences, the professors, more than hundred candidates of sciences, senior lecturers, from them one honored worker of the science, the deserved tutor of the youth, more than twenty honours pupils of national education function. In nineteen directions of internal and correspondence branch of university where are trained more than three thousand students, work more than two hundred forty qualified teachers. Since 1993 within the precincts of university the branch of postgraduate study for preparation of the scientific staff has opened.

Every year teachers and senior lecturers of university successfully protect doctor's and master's theses. From the date of the basis of university more than twenty scientific employees have protected doctor's and master's theses. The faculty, by post-graduate students and competitors of university every year it is published more than the two hundred fifty scientific articles, more than thirty monographies, textbooks and manuals.
