THE HISTORY OF UZBEKISTAN CHAIR OF GULISTAN STATE UNIVERSITY

1.The history of the chair.
    Syrdaria State Pedagogical Institute after Gafur Gulyam was founded in the virgin Syrdaria region in 1966. In the same year all social sciences were united into one social science chair Saidakhmad Zhiyankhodzhaev had worked without replacement by 1972. The rector of the Institute A.Abdunabiev. teachers V.Sudorgin, A.Dzhabbarov were members of the chair. Almat Ikramov, Kuchkar Abdushukurov, Shermat Yusupov were also the chair members, they are still working at the University.
    The Party’s History chair came off the chair staff in 1972. Kh.Tairov began heading it. New candidates of science V.Abdiev, A.Nabiev, I.Baratov, A.Adikhanov were admitted.
    The Universal History chair came off the Party’s History chair in 1983. The Party’s History chair was headed by Rasul Gafurov. In the 80-s of twentieth century Professor K.Eshchanov, assistant professors S.Zhiyankhodzhaev, R.Gafurov, I.Baratov, U.Aliev, V.Azarsky. A.Ikramov and theachers A.Pak, B.Esonboev, Z.Tukaeva. B.Khalikulov and others were working there. After finishing research studentship Z.Tukaeva defended her master’s degree under the leadership of professor K.Eshchanov.
    The learning of the history of Motherland is paid a lot of attention especially after proclaiming Uzbekistan an independent republic. Self dependent chairs of the History of Uzbekistan were founded in all institutions of the republic. Syrdaria State Pedagogical Institute was renamed Gulistan State University. At the University the chair of the History of Uzbekistan people was organized at the joint of the Universal History chair and Political History chair in 1992. Assistant professor Abdurazzak Abulkasymov who had been prorector of education was appointed the chair head.
    In 1993 the chair joined the Political History chair and was named The History of Uzbekistan chair. The assistant professot Abdurakhman Nabiev became head chair. During the following years the chair was being headed by assistant professor T.Omonzhulov (1994-1995), assistant professor S.Kudratov (1995-2000). Candidate of historical sciences U.Erbutaeva has been heading the chair since April of 2000.
    A lot of educational, research, spiritual work in the field of ap bringing new generation has been done at the chair of the History of Uzbekistan for the past years. In 1998 a young candidate of science Nazira Norzhigitova became a holder of the fund “Ustoz” grant, in 1999 a young teacher of the chair Sh.Bekturdiev also got the fund’s grant.
    In autumn of 2000 N.Norzhigitova following the line of “Ustoz” improved her qualification skills in France, in 2000-2001 she entered purpose doctorship attashed to the National University of Uzbekistan, in 2002 improved her qualification skills at Moscow State University. At present she investigates one of the “black spots” in the history of Uzbekistan – political repressions of the twenties and thirties in Uzbekistan and she is preparing to defend the master’s degree at the National State University of Uzbekistan.
    In 2004 Sh.Bekturdiev improved his qualification at Moscow State University.S.Kudratov investigates the problems of founding first cities and states on the territory of Middle Asia. According to this line he published the manuals “The Emergence of first cities on the territory of Central Asia” (1998) and “The land of Water-Carts-Sardoba”(2001).
    Senior teacher B.Tuychibaev has done solid work investigating topography of Ustrushana archaeological monuments. He has prepared and defended master’s degree. A special moment of his dissertation is a peculiar supplement – s classifier of Ustrushana archaeological monuments.
    Teacher Y.Karimov investigates rites and traditions of the people of the Turkestan range foothills.

2.Science potential and science work

At present the following specialists work at the chair

During the last three years the chair members participated in republican and international conferences, published their theses at conferences, in republican journals. On the chair’s initiative a conference of the history of Ustrushana was held togheter with Dzhizak Pedagogical Institute. The members of the chair participated actively in conducting and publishing the materials of the conference “Avesta and the healthy way of life” under the patronage of the society of Uzbekistani young scientists. All the members of the chair work at they research, publish manuals and test books.

3. Research trend

The main scientific problem of the chair is the History of Uzbek statehood. Practical results of research are reflected in articles, theses of reports of the chair members. The chair head and young specialists participate in the republican seminar after academician Yahya Gulyamov “The History of Uzbek people and Statehood”. The chair members do research work in scientific directions of the speciality “The History of Uzbekistan” and “Historiography”.

4. Local and international relations

The chair has constant links with the following educational and scientific institutions:

    The members of the department compiled and installed teaching aids, methodical textbooks, educational and methodical collections into teaching process.
     New resources on subjects are being created by teachers of the department.
     “Minischool”, “School of young scientists” and Circles function on the basis of the department. The seminars are hold with young future scientists. Talented students are working on a research activity under the supervision of experienced teachers of the department. Our talented students take an active part in scientific conferences, seminars, competitions of scientific and creative work on the scale of University and the Republic. Their works were published in the collections of conferences,. Students Norbekova V. and Hojanova L. became inscribed grant “Kelajak ovozi” prize winners.
     The members of the department organize different measures not only for students but also among luhabitants, in organizations, institutes and military units.
