The Uzbek Literature Department

    Uzbek literature department was formed in 1969 during this period two candidates of science worked in the department. The first heads of the department were candidate of science A. Rajabiy, then doctor of philological science, professor A. Kuljanov, then doctor of philological sciences, professor-an outstanding scholar of our Republic A. Kattabekov. At present the department is headed by U.Uljaboev –candidate of philological sciences , an assistant professor.
    In the past scientific potential of the department significantly grew. From other higher educational institutions specialist with high scientific degrees were invited, also young specialists who had been becoming owners of such scientific degrees were accepted to work in the department. The department conduct lessons on 12 subjects, also 5 special courses are held. Nowadays professor A. Kuljanov, assistant professor U.Uljaboev, R, Majidov, H, Mirhaydarov, K. Kubaev, M, Mamatkulov, candidate of philological sciences A.Bolibekov, senior teachers A.Primov, O.Fayzullaeva and teachers M. Suyarov, and I. Saymuratova work at the department. Scientific potential of the department comparies 67%.
    There function two mini-schools at the department, these are headed by candidate of philological sciences, assistant-professors U.Uljaboev and H.Mirhaydarov. The quantity of the members of these circles comprise 36 students.
     At the department 4 candidate and 3 doctor scientific works are being carried out. The department works and it has close scientific contacts with a number of departments of the Republic, with the Institute of the Language and literature. There are 4 classes in one of them the lessons are held on the basis of computer techniques. There are 10 computers in this class. The computers contains manuals on subjects texts of the lectures to gaining deep knowledge in the field of literature. Electron educational text books, information from Internet and materials from other educational sources. There is a “Study-museum after A. Kattabekov”. Books from A. Kattabekov’s personal library are kept here, whose working activity passed in this department. There is also information-resource centre, where there is a dissertation hall which contains dissertations on each specialty, also fund of 40 000 books.
    The department carries Permanent cooperation collaboration with academic lyceums of Gulistan city, in Yangier, in the town of Syrdarya, with Gulistan pedagogical colleges N 1-2, with secondary schools N 9,2,11,16 of Developing Qualification of the Teachers of Syrdarya region.
